The Final Monthly Life List (March 2015): Fun, Free and Local

Wow! I received a ton of great feedback from fans of this series! I sincerely appreciate everyone’s comments, messages and e-mails! You made your voice loud and clear. I will be keeping this series going! :-)

It is time for the final monthly life list. This list like all others includes an assortment of local, free and helpful activities that you can start doing today in order to add more adventure to your life and to start making progress on your life list. This month, challenge yourself to do one more item than you did on the last list. It is a great way to build momentum!

Why Is This The Final One?

These posts have started to feel like fluff pieces to me. They get very little engagement from this community and I don’t think they are providing very much value. Correct me if I am wrong!

I value your time as a reader and want to make sure that everything you choose to read on my blog provides value to your life.

As a plus, the math works out well in that I have been doing these for exactly one year today. I like clean endings :-)

Can I Still Access The Old Ones?

Yup! You can see the whole list here.

But This Is My First Time Seeing One of These

If this is your first time seeing one of these monthly lists, now is your chance to try out the Life List lifestyle without having to fully commit yourself. Find a friend, set aside some time and use this mission as an excuse to go adventuring! If you get a good story out of completing any of these items, come back to this post and share your experience with the community. We want to hear from you!

Monthly Life List: March 2015

The following is a life list that is meant to be fun, free and something that you can do locally. The only guideline is you should aim to finish as many items as possible by the deadline (see below!).

  • Borrow a physical book from a library
  • Smile at a stranger until they smile back at you
  • Send a nice and unexpected email
  • Donate something you don’t use
  • Go for a 5k walk
  • Cancel a subscription
  • Draw a picture
  • Mark all of your travels on a map
  • Set aside time to do creative thinking
  • Learn a new joke to share with others

The Deadline

No Life List would be complete without a deadline. This monthly Life List’s deadline is:

March 31st 2015

How Did You Do On The Previous List?

Do you have any stories, suggestions or photos from working on the last monthly life list? Share them in the comments below! The whole group wants to hear from you!

Do you find value in these monthly life lists? Let me know if you do! I’d be willing to continue the series if people want it saved.

  • I read physical books all the time. More than e-books anyway.
I don’t borrow from the library cos there aren’t any nearby.
My latest read is The Cuckoo’s Calling, it’s really good!

I was just talking to my friend about donating my old clothes to this one labour camp, we’re sorting out the stuff to have enough and will do it next weekend.

I have a one of those world scratch maps, which I’ll update as soon as I go home (just got back from a trip).

There you go! Three things from the list already being worked on. :)

On creative thinking… I guess I’ll work on updating my blog, it’s been forever!
Everything else is also doable, though i have very few subscriptions to begin with cos I travel as much as I do. Let’s see…

When are you gonna tell us about Dubai?!

    • :-) Nice work! That is some good forward momentum.

The Dubai piece is coming up this week, I am backlogged at the moment and trying to catch up :-) Spoiler though, I had a great time!

  • Sanjana

and the city… it wouldn’t be right of me to say, cos I go there at least once every other month. :)

  • Andy

Sadly, this is actually the only thing I read on this site and get the most from it. Sad to see it go. It was something I looked forward to monthly to push me out of my comfort zone and keep myself fresh.

    • Wow, interesting. If others feel the same, I’d be open to expanding the series! Do others feel the same way?

  • Maria

Yeah i feel the same as Andy and really hope you’ll continue this item… being a new mom limits me a bit to do those really big ones all over the world, so these local free ones are working for me and make me smile and enjoy life even more

    • Thanks Maria! I have received a lot of great feedback and will be keeping this series :-) Best of luck with this list!

  • sam

I’m somewhat in Andy’s boat, I enjoy reading these every month. I don’t typically engage on posts a lot (although I’m a consistent reader/fan of your site). If nothing else I enjoy the fact that these monthly posts serve as a helpful reminder to make sure I’m evaluating my day to day life and not slipping into a “path of least resistant routine” that is easy to fall into. Its a constant battle for me to live with purpose, to slow down and not just go with the herd. These life lists have helped remind me on more than one occasion that I can and should be continuing to improve myself and do better, more meaningful work.

I do understand where your coming from though, its seems like there is a relatively small amount of posts you can write about activities that will be local & economical for people to do. If you are mulling over a new serious, I would really enjoy a “monthly place to visit in the US” series. You could make a guide for going somewhere on the cheap, and also provide a challenge or 2 to complete on the journey….. just my 2 cents

    Thanks for blogging
    Samuel

    • Thanks Samuel :-)

I hear you about the constant battle, I think that is true for most everyone. I received a lot of great feedback from folks (including you!) and will be keeping this series going.

      Cheers!

  • Vanessa
