Monthly Life List: July 2014

The following is a life list that is meant to be fun, free and something that you can do locally. The only guideline is you should aim to finish as many items as possible by the deadline (see below!).

  • Go 48 hours without complaining about anything
  • Explore Mars (on Google Earth)
  • Hand write someone a card
  • Tell us (in the comments) something interesting about yourself
  • Be a friend to someone who doesn’t deserve it
  • Compliment a complete stranger
  • Bring baked goods to work/friends
  • Donate something you don’t use
  • Pick up loose garbage
  • Spend one day letting others always speak before you

The Deadline

No Life List would be complete without a deadline. This monthly life list’s deadline is:

July 31st 2014

I shall certainly be trying some of these! :)

    • Great :-) Looking forward to hearing about your progress!

  • Danny I do love this idea of challenging people to get started.

    I’m going to explore Mars!

  • Hey Danny,

I love this monthly life list idea of your. I’ve been a life-lister since I was a kid and have had a blast with it. I came across your blog post about a year ago and have loved it.

I think this idea of your monthly list you provide to challenge us readers to do something out of the norm is a great idea. I did last month’s list and had a lot of fun with it. I’m looking forward to doing this months and future months lists. Keep it up. You’re doing a great job keeping this fun and interesting.

    • Thanks Steve :-) I appreciate you reaching out and sharing your experience! More lists to come! :-)

Congrats on your successes so far!

Hey Danny, How do you navigate back to the short monthly lists for past months?

As someone who just started my life list this year from seeing this blog, I can tell everyone that its those little things you put on the list that ANYONE can easily accomplish that kickstart your life list….once you get one, two, three down it becomes addicting and beyond enjoyable…half of my list is local, fun, cheap, and exciting….it makes the bigger things I have planned seem more realistic and attainable….thanks Danny!

    • Amazing Michael! :-)

It sounds like you and I have had the same experience with starting small leading to bigger successes.

      Cheers bud! :-)

  • One of my favourite challenges is to make the most miserable people around you smile…it a fun and rewarding challenge.
Instead of thinking ‘God, you are so miserable’..think, ‘I am sure I can brighten up your day’ … it is so rewarding when that person smiles back at you.

Hi! I just realized today that the deadline for this month’s list is tomorrow. I’ve done about as many this month as I did last time (which has me thinking that a personal goal will be to do at least one more next time, to build up my habit!) – or, at least, I will have once I make the entry here that says that I can count to 10 in both Russian and Malaysian (as well as English!).

I’m surprised that there aren’t more ‘interesting’ facts posted – this makes me wonder what items on the list are getting the most attention …

    • Hey Kate!

Nice work on the list. I love the idea of trying to do one additional item each month :-) I am going to use that myself! Thank you for sharing that idea!

I asked some folks about the interesting facts and they said the reason they didn’t post them was because they felt uncomfortable talking about themselves in blog comments like these. I didn’t expect that but after hearing the explanation it makes sense. The VAST majority of readers on this blog read but don’t ever comment.

Next list will go up shortly!
